DONUT DAY AT HALESWORTH (HOLTON) AIRFIELD MUSEUM - SUNDAY 7th JUNE 2026
National Donut Day, celebrated annually on the first Friday of June, was started in 1938 as a tribute to the Salvation Army “Donut Lassies” who supported American Troops on the Front Line during World War 1.
During World War 2, the American Red Cross sent hundreds of young women to England to boost military morale. These “Donut Dollies” travelled around the country in their Clubmobiles serving coffee and donuts to homesick GIs, providing “a little touch of home.”
During the Korean and Vietnam Wars, Donut Dollies continued to boost the spirits of weary American servicemen around the world.
Join us at Halesworth (Holton) Airfield Museum from 2pm on SUNDAY 7th JUNE 2026 to celebrate National Donut Day and find out more about Clubmobiles and Donut Dollies.
The museum is open from 2pm until 5pm every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday until the end of October. Admission is free.
