The museum's first ever Donut Day took place on Sunday 7th June 2026. After a week of pouring rain, the weather was fine and dry. Our volunteers, their friends and families, worked hard to make the day a success. We were pleased to see so many people of all ages visiting our museum and enjoying a day out.
Sophie Green brought her fantastic American Red Cross collection for us to see.
Some of our visitors arrived in their wonderful vehicles.
Of course, Donut Day wouldn't have been the same without the delicious donuts supplied by Malcolm of The Bread Basket Bakery in Carlton Colville washed down with a mug of fresh coffee donated by Fresh Pac. Served by our own Donut Dollies in the Donut Dugout! Thanks to all our volunteers, visitors and suppliers for their support.
Sunday 7th June
Today we welcomed Benjamin Hayes and his family to the museum.
Benjamin's grandfather Donald S Brumbaugh flew with the 489th Bomb Group.
On the 18th September 1944 his B24 "Heaven Can Wait" was on a low level resupply mission flying at just 200 feet when they were shot down by ground fire. They were too low to bail out. The aircraft crashed and five crew were killed.
Benjamin and his family spent the afternoon looking around the museum and enjoying our Donut Day event.
It was a pleasure to show them around.

May 2026
Volunteers from the museum travelled to Madingley American Cemetery on the 26th May for Memorial Day to lay wreaths to remember the units that served at Halesworth Airfield. It was a very warm day and was well attended.
